Japanese Black Ink Painting for Beginners

A Follow-on One-Day Japanese Black Ink Painting Workshop for those who have previously taken our Introductory Workshop will be held at the beautiful Brú Ború Cultural Centre beside the historic Rock of Cashel in Co. Tipperary on Thursday the 2nd of April (Book Here).

Sumi-e is the Japanese word for the Art of Black Ink Painting. It is a unique art form in which the fewest possible strokes are used to capture the essence of the subject being painted using only black ink, handmade paper and a special brush.

In this Workshop, participants who have previously attended our Introductory Workshop will continue on to new subjects.

In this Workshop for beginners, participants will be introduced to Sumi-e materials and will learn basic brushstrokes and techniques used for painting grasses, flowers, distant trees and mountains.
